There is someone there, but my eyes are too heavy to see.  I couldn’t stop shivering even though the air felt so heavy on my body.  No, wait.  I slowly shift my hand to feel clothe.  I’m in a bed.  The smell of sweet aroma lingers in the air that is so familiar.

Yukina, leaves the words from my lips with no sound.  A gentle hand stokes my face but there is no sound; no happiness to see that I’m alive, no sadness to see I lived.  I’m an idiot, a fool, to think I could run from myself.  Even after I accepted being a demon hidden in a human body, the thought of my human family knowing what I am still haunts me.  A smirk falls on my lips as I remind myself of how Hiei thinks about Yukina.  If I could be like her, I wouldn’t feel this pain.

“It’s raining,” she says as I hear her walk away.

Don’t leave me alone, I try saying, but still nothing comes out.  Not even my eyes can speak for me.  I must use the only thing I have left; Yukina gives out a startle as I use vines of morning glories that Hiei gave to Yukina one morning.

I hear her giggle, “I was just going to the window to watch the rain.  It’s so peaceful.  When you recover fully, you should watch it with me.”  Just hearing it is enough for me right now.  I take the biggest breath in my body could handle in my burning lungs and slowly let it out before blacking out.
